Peach Education State Tax Credit Program
The Houston College and Career Academy (HCCA) is participating in the Peach Education State Tax Credit Program. This program allows Georgia taxpayers – individuals and corporations – to designate a portion of their required tax payment to a public school with an approved application. Donors benefit by having their tax dollars stay locally and will directly impact the students attending HCCA.
Houston College and Career Academy is an extension of the high school programs in Houston County and is an off-campus center of Central Georgia Technical College. The school focuses on integrating academics and advanced career and technical education programs resulting in a viable 21st Century workforce for Houston County. Currently, there are 19 programs including eight skilled trades offered at HCCA. These programs include HVAC, Industrial Systems, Welding, Patient Care, Emergency Medical Responder, Information Support & Tech Services, Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security, and Automotive.
“With the funds from this program, we will be able to add a Cybersecurity pathway in the 2024-2025 school year and anticipate adding a Fire Fighting pathway for the 2025-2026 school year,” said Dr. Sherry Johnson, Principal and CEO for HCCA. “We are committed to preparing our students for careers and providing our local employers with a skilled workforce. Once these programs are established, donors will be able to tour our facility to see and touch equipment that their Georgia income tax dollars helped purchase. This is an exciting time for HCCA and our District!”
